It has 520 miles of shoreline, a surface area over 50 square miles and is 34 miles long. Possessing an elevation of 760 feet when full, Lake Norman is 2.5 times larger than Lake Wylie, which is south of Charlotte.
Lake Norman water activities include boating, water skiing, water-boarding, fishing, rowing and sailing. Plentiful marinas and boat launches provide loads of access to the lake. If you enjoy golf, lots of golf courses are in the area too.
Lake Norman is surrounded by 4 counties – Mecklenburg, Iredell, Catawba and Lincoln.
The southern side of Lake Norman, closest to Charlotte, has Huntersville and Cornelius. Shopping and nice restaurants dot the area. The school district is Charlotte-Mecklenburg.
To the east is Davidson, a Norman Rockwell like town, home of Davidson College.
