Lake Norman

Lake Norman is located 15 miles north of uptown Charlotte and is the largest man-made body of water in North Carolina. It has 520 miles of shoreline, a surface area over 50 square miles and is 34 miles long. Possessing an elevation of 760 feet when full, Lake Norman is 2.5 times larger than Lake Wylie, which is south of Charlotte.

Lake Norman water activities include boating, water skiing, water-boarding, fishing, rowing and sailing. Plentiful marinas and boat launches provide loads of access to the lake. If you enjoy golf, lots of golf courses are in the area too.

Lake Norman is surrounded by 4 counties – Mecklenburg, Iredell, Catawba and Lincoln.

The southern side of Lake Norman, closest to Charlotte, has Huntersville and Cornelius. Shopping and nice restaurants dot the area. The school district is Charlotte-Mecklenburg.

To the east is Davidson, a Norman Rockwell like town, home of Davidson College.

On the northern side of Lake Norman are Mooresville, Sherrils Ford, Troutman and Catawba. Mooresville has lots of shopping/dining and is home of many NASCAR teams and Lowes. The other towns have much less shopping/dining, but offer more seclusion. School systems are Iredell County and Catawba County.

The west side is Denver, which is quaint and possesses a home town feel. With the expansion of Highway 16, it’s now
an easy commute to uptown or the airport. The school system is Lincoln County.

Lake Norman has plenty of medical facilities and is a prime destination for many retirees and 2nd homes.

The community options are almost endless, so if you want some help narrowing down your search – just call or email - we’d love to assist.
